About this place
Set along a quiet side street in Hatchobori, Daken is an izakaya where diners can take their time over Kyushu flavors paired with a curated selection of shochu. The calm interior features both counter and table seating, striking a comfortable balance for solo diners unwinding after work or companions sharing quiet conversation over drinks.
A meal here naturally begins with small plates such as a colorful appetizer assortment or homemade tamari soy sauce pickles. The drinking snacks continue with an assortment of 3 handmade satsuma-age fried fish cakes, lightly seared Kuroiwa chicken breast tataki, and special nanban-style fried chicken that can be ordered from just 1 piece, making it easy to sample a variety of bites alongside that first drink.
The standout specialty is the horse sashimi shipped directly from Kumamoto. An omakase platter brings together cuts such as lean meat, marbled slices, and loin, showcasing remarkable freshness. Picking a glass of shochu from the bottles lining the shelves to match the rich, clean flavors of the meat makes for a memorable pairing.
Seating is limited during dinner service, so making a reservation in advance is recommended. The restaurant accepts credit cards as well as various QR code mobile payment methods.
